World-renowned actress, Audrey Hepburn, created iconic roles throughout her career but few know the strife of her early years. She also suffered from abandonment issues, low self-esteem, anxiety, and eating disorders. Ms. Hepburn worked in the Dutch resistance as a teen and resorted to eating tulip bulbs to sustain herself as the occupying Nazis took all foods from the townspeople for their own troops. She witnessed the deaths of many resistance workers, aided allied forces and assisted her mother in the resistance efforts. Memories of these experiences were kept at bay in her adult life yet there was an underlying fear that followed her. She never let the daily struggles get in the way of striving for perfection in her life.
