Tammy has studied painting and drawing with many artists and teachers, most recently at the Art Students League of New York E-telier. Her work has been shown in galleries, restaurants, offices and businesses in Austin and other Central Texas communities, and currently can be seen at the Monarch Gallery and Gifts in Bastrop.   As a psychotherapist, Tammy incorporates nature and creativity into the treatment of depression, anxiety and grief. She enjoys gardening, birding, traveling and spending time with her family. Artisit's Statement: Artist's Statement My love of the natural world inspires my paintings. I want to capture the specific light and the particular beauty of a moment along with an emotional expression that evokes an emotional response from the viewer. I paint from my own photographs, memories and impressions of places that I love or special moments in nature. I believe the visual details of an outdoor scene—forms, colors, light and texture—make the painting feel “real,” and expressive brush strokes and interpretive decisions give the painting life and feeling. I work in walnut-based oil paint in the alla prima method. I favor rich colors that capture the chromatic extravagance of nature. My recent paintings have focused on gardens inspired by a trip to Scandinavia last summer, but trees are the subject to which I always return.
