Controversial and outspoken, Angela Davis led marches for Civil Rights and prison reform. The dictionary defines Harlequin as: a mute character in traditional pantomime, typically masked and dressed in a diamond-patterned costume. For this reason, I chose to illustrate the streets of the march as the Harlequin; muted and eventually cracked by the stomping of millions of feet in protest.
