Orvieto, Italy, a historic “Hill Town” about 90 kilometers north of Rome, is known for it’s grand architecture from the 13th and 14th centuries which looks out over the walls and cliffs that have protected the city for over a thousand years. While tourists travel up and down the hill on the Funicular, locals who own cars participate in a perpetual traffic ‘dance’ on Orvieto’s ancient narrow streets. I drew this image of the street to capture the complex cobblestone patterns and 500 year old buildings.
