My first studio was in the basement of my parents’ house. A passionate and boldly unemployed young man, I had no choice but to throw myself into art. I practiced abstract painting until the techniques became meditative, and this allowed me to transcend the box I was living in.
Then I moved to Baltimore, where the air smelled and the muse was a thin lady who bathed in public restrooms. Working in a corporate coffee shop, I painted where and when I could. I found moments in hallways and alleys, on porches and fire escapes.
Now my life has changed and I live in Central Texas with my wife and five pets. I paint in the garage, dancing in the heat and noxious fumes until I become lightheaded. For me, painting is very musical. I love my life, and I hope to express that love in my work.
