I grew up in a family of artists and was influenced by my surroundings in the art world of New York City in the 80's and 90's. After a long career in psychiatry and psychoanalysis, I find myself increasingly immersed in painting. Like in psychoanalysis where one works to be still, vulnerable and curious about the psyche, an artist hopes to find authentic expression and connection through art. I can relate to Akira Kurosawa who said, "The role of the artist is to not look away." I studied still life for over a year under with Elizabeth Locke and have taken numerous classes in Austin and workshops overseas.
