Erica Dawn Smith paints softly detailed acrylic works that capture the quiet wonder of life in the Central Texas Hill Country. Her paintings invite viewers into a world where light, land, and wildlife inspire an intimate reflection of her surroundings and reverence for nature.

Originally from southern Indiana, Erica studied set design at Indiana University and scenic painting at the Yale School of Drama. Her early career took her across the country, painting for theater, film, television, and live events. Those years of large-scale creative work honed her sense of composition, color, and storytelling. These skills currently infuse her fine art practice with depth and presence.

Since settling in the hill country in 2017, Erica has traded film sets for her garden studio, where she paints among native plants and animals with the resilient spirit of rural life. Her subjects, whether landscapes or expressive animals, embody both humor and heart, revealing the emotional connections between humans and the natural world. Each painting is a quiet celebration of the rolling hills, crystal waters, and abundant flora and fauna that exemplify Central Texas.
