Katie, born in August 1975 and raised in Houston, Texas, a free-spirited individual attending a Baptist school, although her family was irreligious, often felt like an outsider leading her to question the conservative societal norms around her. Her high school years were diverse, attending multiple schools before finding inspiration and mentorship in Sedona, Arizona, where she immersed herself in art and critical thinking amidst the natural beauty of the Coconino National Forest. Eventually settling in Austin, Texas, and later Los Angeles, Katie's journey led her back to Austin in 2007, where she now lives with her significant other and embraces her role as “Other Mother” to three teenagers.

Katie's artistic evolution is a testament to her diverse experiences. Beginning in the realm of music video production and event decoration, she honed her skills and collaborated with industry masters, yet found herself disillusioned by its competitive and demanding nature. Stepping away from production, she took a step towards creating her own art in forms ranging from whimsical adorned skulls and oil pastel portraits to narrative-rich photographic compositions. After nearly a decade of setting her artistic aspirations aside, Katie has recently rekindled her passion and fully embraced weaving together a “social critique” perspective into a vibrant tapestry of creativity.

It is the symbolic imagery infused with socio political resonance that truly ignites her passion. She endeavors to illuminate the profound complexities of human experience as multifaceted beings—from the limitless potentials to the depths of ignorance, enlightenment and bliss, from the intricate tapestry of history to the stark realities of mortality.
