At seventeen, Laura Maltz sustained a spinal injury that focused her attention on the human body.
The anatomy and physiology that defined her injury drew her to a career as a Physical Therapist.
At the same time, the emotional dimension of the body motivated her earliest painting, and continues to be a primary theme.
She typically uses structure and posture to convey pleasure, pain, thought, and relationships between individuals. Color, texture, and the interplay of light and skin set tone and guide attention.
Laura lives and works in Austin, Texas, exploring the human body simultaneously as a painter, Physical Therapist, and human body owner/operator.
