I have been studying pastel painting since 1995. I studied in the 90’s with Franklin Einspruch in Miami, Florida and later, in the Northwest with Teresa Saia, Dawn Emerson, Margaret Evans, Jennifer Evenhus, Tony Allain and Barbara Noonan. I have loved every minute of learning and look forward to more.
I also love to do self-portraits because of the freedom of expression allowed. No fear of hurting the sitter’s feelings if it doesn’t look good! I like to get something of the Fauve style of Andre Derain into my pastel work and to let the medium show through, letting the eye of the beholder put it together.
I have recently moved to Austin from the Northwest and I find the arts very vibrant here. I am proud to be a member of the Austin Pastel Society while continuing to be a member of the Northwest Pastel Society.
