Shara Nickell

Shara is a studied and trained photojournalist published numerous times since her first publication at the age of 19 while still in college. She has photographed 4 Presidents, 1 VP, pro baseball, pro golf, and feature films and served on a team of appraisers for the Magnum collection of over 200,000 photographs from the archives of Magnum Photos, https://store.magnumphotos.com, which was purchased and donated by Michael Dell and other investors to The Harry Ransom Center at The University of Texas. Additionally, she has exhibited in fine art photography both domestically and internationally beginning in 1980s and currently working on her first coffee table publication. Shara is a self taught multidisciplinary artist creating and exhibiting her art in galleries in Texas since 2020. She works with acrylics, pastels, oil & cold wax, and photography sometime in various combinations. More recently she has explored plaster botanical castings, clay sculptures, and collage. She has her eye on tackling encaustic next! Her practice evolves through experimentation and discovery. Through experimentation, Shara is the creator of a specialised process for painting acrylic on the surface of water then photographed, called waterpaintings.
