Trilce began her journey in ceramic arts in Caracas in 1993, studying under internationally recognized Venezuelan ceramicist Beatriz Plaza. This early stage was key to her understanding of essential techniques in an active and professional studio environment. She not only learned hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques, but also gained hands-on experience with studio operations. She also began teaching as an assistant in children’s ceramics classes. From 1994 to 1999, she continued developing her practice more independently in her own studio. Seeking efficiency without compromising creativity, she experimented with combining forming and glazing processes in the same stage. She also explored small-scale production of her designs, working with a skilled thrower to reproduce her pieces in larger quantities, which allowed her to satisfy large orders while maintaining her artistic vision. In 1999, Trilce participated in a work-study exchange program at the Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven, Connecticut, where she completed a semester under ceramicist Annita Griffith. There, she was exposed to new techniques and work methods and also collaborated with the gallery team on exhibition organization and sales. Despite her formal academic background in Engineering and Marketing, ceramics have always been an essential part of Trilce’s life. She has consistently sought opportunities to continue learning and developing her practice through the years (Caracas, London, Bohemia, New York City, Austin). Trilce is currently applying to the Ceramic Artist Residency at Dougherty Arts Center, hoping to develop her work deeply.
