After completing her training at the “Royal Academy of Art” in The Hague, Loes Botman began specializing in drawing with pastel. The simplicity of the material and the diversity of drawing techniques has always drawn her to the medium. With pastel, she is able to work directly on the surface of the paper, using only her hands. This allows the colors to flow through her fingers and directly onto the paper, fully uniting Loes Botman and her drawings.
Since 2004, the artist has developed a unique method that allows her to draw on panel. Because the drawings on panel are not framed behind glass, they achieve an appearance of painted surfaces. Loes Botman’s unique method requires craftsmanship and significant preparation. Animals are her greatest passion. In her drawings, Loes Botman shows the beauty of the world around us, and in this way, shares this beauty with everyone.
